I had a hard time going for something original with the flavors required. As I knew I could t cheat it and use undetectable amounts of some of the required ingredients. I've been looking for a good use of FLV chocolate Deutsch and I think this is on to something.
1% flv chocolate Deutsch is not too heavy but still present. It has a great dark chocolate taste with hints of coconut and dense cake.
.75% cap cinnamon danish swirl just to be enough to add to the dough and a slight cinnamon to the rest of the mix. This stuff is one of caps more potent flavors and I didn't want it's cinnamon note to take over.
1% JF fuji adds a subtle sweet crisp apple note. Not as tart as fa Fuji which I like in this case.
6% tpa Strawberry ripe. This flavor in my expirience has a tendency to due down and get overshadowed by other heavier flavors so I bumped this up a notch. For those not in the know this is a must have strawberry. Bright, sweet and authentic ripe as the name suggests.
2% JF Bavarian cream. This has become my favorite of any of the Bavarian creams. Sweet and thick with a slight caramel to it. I like my German chocolate cake with a good thick cream filling or covering and this accomplishes that.
Lastly 1% fa hazelnut. I love what hazelnut adds to strawberry flavors adding some authenticity and creaminess and this adds the creaminess and slight nut taste I wanted. I almost decided to go with fa coconut as should be present in German chocolate cake but since this isn't really a authentic German chocolate cake I left the coconut note up to the flv chocolate Deutsch.
A weeks worth of steep does this some good but is actually pleasant as a shake and vape.
Chocolate Deutsch - even though it's not as strong as other chocolates. The Choc Deutsch is a great flavour but tends to fade fast in any recipe I've tried (unless it's used solo and even then it mellows) so there's not much point in adding too much. I find it's enough to give the hint of chocolate and let the Milk and Honey do the rest.
Tried some Bav Cream/Malted Milk instead of the FA Cream Fresh/ FA Vienna Cream 1:2 ratio - didn't really work.
What I enjoy about this recipe is that it is a "chocolate" taste without adding anything that is either a cloyingly sweet chocolate or dry that comes from cocoa flavourings. The Bav cream adds a bit more sweetness to the recipe than the Vienna Cream and also adds a good compliment to the "milk" part.
FLV Milk and Honey is the main ingredient. I think the wildly different opinions on this flavour are due to its name. It's not really creamy and it's not really honey. I would call it FLV Choc Malt as that's what my mind goes to when I taste it. It's more of a Choc Malt component rather than a stand alone choc malt.
FLV Coconut isn't a very coconutish flavour when used in mixes and more a cream with a coconut hint so it works really well with chocolate and milk.
Vanilla Shisha helps to boost the maltish flavour without being prominent.
You can shake and vape this but as with anything will settle nicely with time. It's good with a overnight steep. I tend to be of the mind that steeping will smooth the recipe but if it ain't good as a shake and vape it will never get better.
I also like milder juices so I use less % of concentrates as it helps in rotating flavours for me so I don't get remnants of the previous juice on my atty.
** 8/7 - Removed the Bavarian Cream and Malted Milk as they weren't really contributing much to it and added the Vienna Cream back in. Also went back to 70/30 as it works better in this recipe. Also bumped up the Choc Deutsche to a full 1%**
Holy wow this is a great flavoring! Really prime as a standalone, one you surely don't want to miss out on if you like German Chocolate Cake. It's got a delectable cakey chocolate, and a tasty sweet coconut undertone to it. Even though this flavoring is great by itself, its complexity does make it somewhat more difficult to mix with. Its obvious role is going to be bakeries focusing on chocolate and coconut, not many other directions it can be taken due to the pronounced chocolate and coconut. I feel like if they were able to take just the cakiness from this they would have a pretty great sub for FW Yellow Cake.
