This is my take on the classic cocktail Bees Knees - which like many prohibition-era cocktails was invented as a way to hide the scent and flavor of poor quality homemade spirits. The addition of honey was considered bizarre by some at the time, since sugar is more usual. The original cocktail is made with gin, but I felt that Bourbon is a better pairing in this style of cocktail
On the inhale and exhale you get a sweetened honeyed lemonade with a tart blood orange and darker spice notes on the finish
tested in a reload RDA at 60 watts . it is good at 3 days
This mix is based off of the the FOGVLOG layerz episode back bar bitters https://youtu.be/ggxsvyBEPLM
I built off profile that was presented on layerz
The lemon needed some more tartness and VT sour lemon is pretty good at adding that really tart note .. but it is not sour
Honey Bee is light and floral so the golden syrup helps with adding some dark notes
blood orange holds the middle here and connects to the back bar bitters pulling out the orange note
bourbon adds a nice dark warm note to the finish
back bar bitters adds a nice dark spice note that gets your lemon to really pop with a bitter orange note and creates a unique finish
This is a simple passion fruit vape that just tastes darn good! on the inhale you get a sweet bright vibrant passion fruit with a slightly floral and orange finish .
Good off the shake better 3 days - tested and developed on an reload RDA at 55W
So you may be thinking WHY OH WHY did I add back bar bitters to this . Well the back bar bitters by FLv seems to me like an orange bitters , which traditionally have made from the peels of Seville oranges, cardamom, caraway seed, coriander and burnt sugar in an alcohol base., and create a unique pairing against the bright tropical notes of the passion fruit.
The combination of passion fruit and yellow passion fruitcreate a lovely authentic passion fruit . I wanted some more of the orange note I get from the passion fruit so I used that higher but you can use it as a 50/50 . The yellow passion fruit provides more of a tart finish that I used at a slightly lower percent
Coconutwas used for some body and creamy notes, to help blend the mix rather then a dairy cream
Back bar bitters are used for that bitter orange note that picks up on the orange from the passion fruit. It also adds some darker spices that get the tropical fruit to pop . it is noticeable in the exhale and make for a really interesting finish
Add sweetner to your liking I added .5% of FLV sweetness to mine
An explosion of exotic spices & and citrus served shaken, not stirred.

Based on the early 1900s classic cocktail, the Sidecar is a classic cocktail enjoyed the world over. The original recipe calls for equal proportions of lemon juice, Cointreau (orange-flavored liqueur) and Cognac. Modern interpretations include a version with Bourbon instead of rum with a dash of bitters called The Bourbon Sidecar. This version is based on the latter with the exclusion of bourbon.
FLV Back Bar Bitters is a revelation & I can see many recipes spawning from this unique flavour. This a a fantastical, deep bouquet of florals & spices which will add a magical touch to any mix. With hints of cinnamon, orange peel, ginger & cloves, it creates a complex and balanced aromatic & spicy additive.
A touch will make a wonderful spiced cookie, mulled wine and add allure to a boring fruit punch!
I use it sparingly here as I want the orange to shine. 0,5 is plenty but can work at higher %'s if you prefer a more pronounced aromatic kick. The inherent citrus notes compliments the Blood Orange perfectly to create a deep and true orange base.
FLV Blood orange announces itself loud and proud here. Not as bitter as it rivals, this beauty brings a freshness and vibrancy without being sweet nor tangy. A realistic & bold blood orange flavour with just enough zest without being overbearing.
FLV Lemon at 1% brings a refreshing bright & tart lemon to enhance the deep blood orange. Any higher and it will dominate...
An overnight sleep, well shaken, and she is good to go!
So why is this recipe called John Cena.... Well you can't mix me 😁😁😁 at least not yet.
Wonderful strawberry citrus Mimosa with the perception of effervescence, and a great sweet and bitter contrast. These new FLV flavorings are going to be game changers. If you want to hear some flavor notes me kopal and concrete will be on mix life tonight at 8 Pacific time.
