(INW) Custard, (FA) Custard Premium, Flan (SC) (WF), and (VTA) Vanilla Cream make up the Vanilla Custard "Flan" in this recipe. (TPA) Orange Cream and (INW) Shisha Orange were layered for the Orange Sauce, The (FA) Caramel was used to Caramelize the Orange Sauce.

Jason Donovan pushed open the door of Flamin' Galah's, the best bakery in all of Oz. Rack off Jase, you're barred! Snarled Carl the manager. Donovan had been one of several ex Neighbours actors who (on a reunion piss up) had descended on the shop the previous week causing a huge scene which culminated in Brad Willis actor, Scott Michaelson, getting worked up by Natalie Imbruglia and jizzing in the dough mixer while the staff were distracted.

Donovan spent ten minutes explaining how bad he felt for his part in the proceedings. He offered money for any spoilt stock and even to work in store to compensate for the upset and distress they'd caused. He explained how much he missed being able to pop in for a pastry treat. It would certainly never happen again. Steadily, Carl seemed to come around and became more jovial, ultimately the men shook hands.

Wanna take a 'snot block', Jase? Fresh batch in the back there, Carl offered. Vanilla custard slices were Donovan's ultimate treat and Carl knew he couldn't refuse. As Jason left with his decadent pastry in a white paper sack, Carl grinned from ear to ear. He imagined Jason's shock as his bite squished the wobbly custard filling and he found the koala turd hidden in the centre.

Vanilla slice, custard slice, mille feuille, cremeschnitte, krempita, snot block… whatever you call it it's delicious as fuck, that's why almost every country has there own take on it. This is based on the British version, like you'd get down Gregg's - or a proper bakery. Flakey buttery pastry on top and bottom made here from VTA croissant, OOO pie crust and WF crispy wafer. These dirty strips sandwich a thick custard debauchery made from Fa custard premium, WF flan and Flv vanilla pudding, the gentle caramel note from the flan doesn't appear to upset the balance as I worried it might. Flv frosting for the traditional fondant icing and sweetener if you want it but it's pretty sweet without. It's good from the shake then it gets better, much better at about 3 weeks if you can wait.

This is a simple and traditional vanilla flan that's creamy, sweet and has a delicate gelatinous flan texture. You get delicious vanilla notes with a very light hint of caramel. Enjoy this after a meal or all day. It's perfect for a relaxing lazy Sunday.

Recipe breakdown:
The body of the recipe is comprised of custard premium FA, vanilla pudding FLV which not only helps with the body, but also gives it the flan texture. Flan WF rounds out the recipe and adds a hint of light caramel. All delicious flans use condensed milk and what better condensed milk to use than PUR.

When choosing the vanilla, I went with the original holy vanilla DIYFS. It's perfect in bakery type recipes.

For the sweetener, I like sucralose FW for bakery type recipes. Adjust sweetener to your liking. At 0.6%, it's not overly sweet.

This is good right off the shake but after 3-5 days, it really comes together. I use this primarily in the Jenna, Recurve, and Reload S rda. Quad core fused clapton N80 (0.2 ohm range). 45 to 70 watts but you can push it higher.

This recipe is a masterclass example of layering and balancing fruits.

This is my take on a fruit salad flan.

I was challenged by the chat on a recent live stream on you tube when I threw this together. Well not quite, see this is a combination of experience, balance and a little bit of chance. Off the shake it was delicious, 5 days later it was delicious now exactly 20 days later it is amazing!
This one is worth playing around at different temperatures to get the fruits you like to shine with your sensory system.
The presence of the various flavors in this is obvious although there isn't a total separation of flavor. In other words, if you focus on the strawberry and kiwi you will notice that more, if you focus on the berries and banana you will notice them more as well. The berries seemingly glisten in the background. The positioning of Cap Sweet Guava offers a lovely texture and body to the fruits here and is the most valuble player with the most assists here. It's a fruit medley that works.
This is one of the most complex things to achieve in DIY eLiquid creation, that is to achieve obvious flavours that are separated with more than 3 fruits. While they are not completely separated, this is the closest I have ever made or come across in all the time I have been mixing.
The Bakery combination of JF Biscuit and WF Flan have worked perfectly as the base layer of this profile. The mouthfeel & flavour is on point.
There certainly was a little bit of lady luck to get a profile like this right on the first attempt with this flavour combination but I will accept that lol.

Bottom line is this recipe is authentic as it is delicious and all day vapable. I am my own worst critic so to give this 5 Stars puts it in with my top all time recipes.

The French started it, Australia perfected it - The Vanilla Slice

What is a Vanilla Slice?
A snack similar to a mille-feuille, consisting of a layer of vanilla custard or cream between two layers of pastry with a thin layer of frosting on top & fresh out of the paper bag! "Bon Appetit-O"

If you haven't had a dogs eye with dead horse while holding a coldie you are simply, un-Australian.
The kiwis invented the Pavlova, we perfected it, the French created champagne we perfected the bubbly, they also created a custard snack you couldn't pronounce called "mille-feuille" which sounds like a drunken indecent proposition. We perfected that to. We put frosting on top that ties this delight together with class. We even sometimes add a little passion fruit in the frosting if you wanted the "High end" fancy version. I've kept this real though. A real, fair-dinkum, working-class suburban bakery vanilla slice made to perfection (pronounced ah la pure-fekt). So if you don't mind froggies or as you may say
"exkoozim wah, ohhh o hoh hohhh" I have now perfected this beauty in a vape!

Be a bit patient with this one as 2 weeks really helps this become something that the frogs would get off their hind legs for and would make any Aussie weak at the knees.

The Cuz-tard Filling:
I don't claim to be a custard virtuoso but this little combo of INW Custard, WF Flan, Cap NYC & FLV Vanilla Pudding I came up with may just make me one. This combo stands up "perfecto" in this lovely multi cultural delight. Firm but fair, texture and the way it sits in ya gob is bang on I reckon! It's a fuller mouthfeel than a bad date at the back of a movie theater. The "nilla" through this is bloody lovely!

The Pastry:
OK OK you frogs, settle down, you guys nail pastry so you can have that one ! That's why I used the best in WF Croissant in this and it works well !

The Frosting:
Not to thick, not to thin, a little slight lemony note with a sweet edge is what this trio will give you and its bloody bootiful! If ya wanna get really schmancy and high end you can add 1% WF Passionfruit to this recipe as well if your into that sorta thing. This little "Frosting trilogy" will have ya lick'n ya lips ! (or pashing them)

So get real, get fair dinkum about a decent DIY vape recipe and get gobsmacked with a mouthful of deliciousness !
