Strawberry and cream overdone? Maybe but, heres my version. I have spent a very long time messing with strawberrys and creams trying to find the perfect mix without success. Until now!
I already new the strawberries to use together to get the job done. FA Red Touch/JF Sweet Strawberry/INW Shisha Strawberry. There isnt a better combo out there for the best strawberry flavor.
The problem I had was with the creams. I already new that LB Vienna cream was going to be the main cream, I could tell just by the smell of it. Being mainly a fruity flavor ejuice lover I was at a loss as to what would work well together with it. I ended up with the choices I made based on a cooking show I was watching. It was a baking show and these kids were baking cakes and one was using fresh cream and buttercream frosting and I thought, bingo!! I added Sweet Cream to lighten it up with some sweetness and the Buttercream Frosting to add some smoothness to the mix.
At this point I liked the mix but, felt it was missing some texture and body. I wanted a slightly thick bodied cheesecake flavor to it so, in went the Yes, We Cheescake and bang!! Creme De Strawberry was born.
Hope you enjoy. Please leave a review if you decide to mix this up.
Original Idea: A classic bowl of cornflakes with fresh strawberries. Requested by member @DrkRaven ; mixed by @DrkRaven @fieldgreens @HumanPuck in the diy discord. Join today: https://discordapp.com/invite/ufVTyAQ
Process: There's no breakfast quite as simple as simple as cornflakes, with fresh strawberries to brighten it up. Our initial thoughts immediately brought us to CAP Cereal 27, OOO Milky Undertone, and the superb Strawberry Trinity, which can never be a bad thing. We added a touch of FW Hazelnut to support the milk, and we had our first mix. It was a good start, but not quite there. The milk and cereal weren't quite ready to stand up to the almighty trinity. To support the cereal, we added FA Cookie, and went with TPA Marshmallow to add a little sweetness and base to the milk. This yielded a delicious cereal with just the right amount of strawberry to take you back to mom's kitchen on a Saturday morning. That's when @DrkRaven had an idea so crazy it worked. Add some WS-23 to recreate the sensation of the cold milk to really bring it home. We did. It did.
Result: A balanced mix of everything, sweet but fresh and mildly tart strawberries, crunchy corn flakes, and ice cold, slightly sweet milk. Sit down with this for Saturday morning cartoons, and it just might bring back memories.
Feedback always welcome :)
This is my final version of my first recipe - i am extremely happy with it and believe it is somewhat accurate. My goal was to re-create those yummy Kellogg's fruit snacks from my childhood.
Cactus (Kaktus) (INW): The Juicer-Upper - This is very needed but be careful not to add more than .25% in my testing .25% brightened/juiced up the strawberry while not imparting a cactus flavor, your results may vary.
Strawberry (Red Touch) (FA): Strawberry Jelly Jam - This very sugary strawberry helps us candy up the TPA Strawberry and rounds out the strawberry flavor as well.
Strawberry (TPA): The Go-To - This is my go-to strawberry, it works in so many different applications but here we are using it as our base candied strawberry flavor.
Strawberry Gummy Candy (SC) (WF): The Star of The Show - This flavor is what i built my recipe on it has an interesting balance of natural and artificial strawberry (i feel as though this mimics a fruit snack) and a great gummy feel.
Swedish Gummy (TPA): The Gummy Enhancer - I tried this in .1 increments all the way from 1-4% For me, any lingonberry taste just ruins the recipe for me but at 1.75 i get a candied strawberry and more of a gummy mouthfeel.
Vanilla Swirl (TPA): The Vanilla Bridge - This tones everything down a bit and rounds it out, and also adds a bit to the mouthfeel, this is a must in all my gummy recipes
Super Sweet (CAP): This is pretty self explanatory, cut it if you don't like sweeter but i prefer it with sweetener at about .5%
Hope you guys enjoy and if you mix it up, tell me what you think!
It was the summer of 2018 and I was about 6 months into my DIY journey when I threw this recipe together with an equally small amount of flavorings, knowledge and notes. It was ‘candied’ and ‘sweet’ I was pursuing, and it had to be creamy too. Almost 2yrs. and hundreds of other mixes have passed and I still enjoy this as one of my first successful ventures. Give it a go, I think you’ll be glad ya did!
Mixer's Club Theme: Try something new. This is definitely new for me. I wanted to make a mix using those specific flavors to create one profile that wasn't exactly cereal, not quite the berry forward, not too sweet, semi floral. It was more about getting these components to work in a mix that going for any specific real thing.
B- For the berry i went with the daveberry trinity scaled down by a third. It sticks out distinctly as a berry here without dominating the mix.
W- The wheat here is both flv wheat and jf biscuit. wheat brings an almost floral wheat note that biscuit fills in with a sweeter, lightly flaky body. I tried some RF Baked Bread sc but it was a little overpowering and i didn't feel like it was adding to the profile. I got wf frosted puff cereal and wanted to try it in here but it came too late. Im happy with where this is at anyway because I struggled to get a solid almond note I wanted.
A - for the almond I used FA almond. I searched high and low in my drawer for wf almond cookie to see if i could use this in place of jf biscuit but also boost out the almond. Never did find it. I tried a little FA marzipan but it didnt make any noticable difference for me so I left it out. Just kept dialing this up until I liked where it was just under the wheat.
H - I tried flv honey bee for the honey. It was too floral without enough sweet. Decided to give vt a run here. It has a bit of wiggle room between 2-3 % but I definitely wanted it to be both the bulk of the sweet and the almond wheat bowtie.
I think what came out was interesting and not too bad. Hope you like it. outside my wheelhouse so any criticism, suggested flavors, just 'give up' comments are welcome. :)
We were doing "Wishing Well! Australian Brush Fires!" on SaturDIY'ing with fresh03 and Friends! and I made this recipe for Corvape who requested a strawberry macaron which is different from a macaroon (that's the coconut treat), thing is, I can't taste strawberry in vapes.
MB MECHMODRN helped me out with the strawberries. I do get something from VSO Strawberry which I used instead of FA Red Touch.
Notes to come!
Enjoy, be queer and vape on!
