A delicate nectar made from honeysuckle flowers and infused with sweet ginger syrup, pureed mango and honey. That was the intention anyway! Based on Mixers Club feedback I think I need to change my description. This is a ginger-mango candy. I will eventually tweak it a bit to bring it more in line with that profile, but it's tasty enough to be shared and mixed by other ginger fans out there as is.
I first combined ginger and mango together for an entry in the Mixer's Club sub-Reddit when our theme was "non-representational mixing". I loved the combination but felt the recipe lacked a solid foundation. The syrupy sweet combo wanted to be a nectar. I probably could have fine tuned the recipe a little and called it a nectar in the way extra sweet fruit juices are sometimes called nectars. But the very next month our theme was to improve a recipe from the past year. This provided me an opportunity to combine these flavors into a true nectar, as in the yummy sweet liquid that hummingbirds get from flowers.
Honeysuckle was the obvious choice for the heart of our nectar. It's light and sweet and not perfumey. Plus it does magical things when combined with FLV Ginger. It does an excellent job of carrying our top notes and sitting quietly in the mix while whispering, "I'm here."
HS Ginger is where the syrupy sweet ginger note is coming from. If there is a star in this recipe, this is it. The FLV Ginger gives it some support. It is more floral than spice though. When combined with honeysuckle it creates a flavor that is very much like a gourmet honey such as wildflower or orange blossom honey. I can almost see using this concentrate as a sweetener for more exotic flavors.
The mango was the most difficult part of this to get just right. I tried about 15 different combinations of mangoes with varying percentages during the two months I worked on this. Honestly I am still not convinced it's perfect. The Sweet Mango was in every version I tried. By itself it sits too far in the back though, and the mango is more of an afterthought than a main note. Other mangos were too "clean" or brought a peel note with them that wasn't working with the ginger. FLV Mango is very creamy. It would make an excellent smoothie flavor. I didn't like it at first and almost went back to HS. But I kept vaping it and tweaking percentages and it grew on me. I was tempted to push the overall percentage of mangoes a little higher but, surprisingly, ginger is easily bullied if you are not careful. I wanted the ginger as a main note rather than an accent but I also wanted that for the mango. So it was a delicate balancing act and the current recipe is what I finally decided on.
The FA Honey is there for extra sweetness and to push the honey note created by the Honeysuckle/FLV Ginger combo. I was tempted to go a little higher with it, but I have heard the honey horror stories so I never even attempted a version with a higher percentage.
INW Cactus adds juiciness. It is actually sweeter without the Cactus, which is weird because I know it usually sweetens too. But apparently when you are working with a more syrupy profile this is not the case. I think it brings a touch of a green note with it. At 0.5% it doesn't interfere with the rest of the profile though. Feel free to leave it out if you are not a fan.
Give this about 3 days for the cactus to settle down and the ginger to come up.
Here's my recipe for the charity show at the end of 2017 on DiyOrDie. It's been a huge year in diy, and we're going out with a BANG! This is as close as I've come to date in creating a creamy frozen yogurt that translates well in to a vape. I went with adding mango as it's a tasty and familiar flavour. Thank you all for such a great year, looking forward to 2018!
This is not a clone more a tip of the hat to my favorite commercial juice. I got into mixing my own juices pretty soon after starting vaping so never really tried that many "premium" juices but this was one of the first I tried and it was a vice of mine for a long time. Mangabeys is a lovely rich sweet tropical mango and pineapple profile but when I say sweet its really sweet its a coil killer and I eventually got tired of having to rewick my coils everyday so I set about recreating my own version and here it is I hope you enjoy it as much as do.
Cap Sweet Guava - it took my quite a while to realise that guava was such a key part of this recipe, I knew it was there but wasn't until I bumped it up did it really bring the recipe together.
Flv Mango/Cap Sweet Mango - This is a great pairing of mangos together they give you everything you could possible want in a mango flavour. Rich, sweet, juicy and body its almost like actually biting into a really ripe mango. These are not the mangos that 12 Monkeys used in their Mangabeys but I love this combination.
Tfa Pineapple/Tfa dragonfruit - Tfa pineapple is rich, sharp and very strong and if its not well balanced it can take over a recipe very easily and become harsh which is why I used Tfa dragonfruit. The dragon fruit has many uses here its used vey low so it dosnt impart a lot of flavour but it does help round out the top notes of Tfa pineapple and calm it down so it dosnt bully the other flavours in the recipe. It also gives the whole recipe a bit of extra juciness.
Cap Super Sweet - Well this is a remix of a "premium" juice and to give it a little more of a "premium" taste it needs sweetener. At 0.5% I think it gives the profile all the sweetness it need to emulate the original but not gunk your coils too much it also helps lift all those flavours to the next level.
I hope you mix and enjoy this recipe and as always I'm happy to hear any feedback you might have good or bad
A single, distraught Mango finds itself being forced into submission by a tribe of rapey pineapples; A solid White Gummy Bear base, paired with CAP Sweet Mango and french vanilla to round it out. TFA Jackfruit is used to complete the holes that CAP Sweet Mango creates. TFA Toasted Marshmallow assists with the mouthfeel and rounding out the overall profile.
Mango lovers, you gonna love this !
IMPORTANT ; for this mix you absolutly need the french flavor « mangue » from the brand « revolute » this is the star of the mix (imo the Best ever mango nectar flavor , and i ve got them all!) and this flavor is not in the ATF repertory so ADD 3% OF « MANGUE REVOLUTE » to the mix !!! This mix is useless without this flavor.
Simple very good mango nectar !!!
I’m in love with mango , i tried tons of possibilitys to capture my white whale and this is it ! I finally found the perfect association/mix/balance to archive the mango nectar im fall in love with.
This mix is sweet, fluffy, lightly creamy, with strong ripe mango notes on the top and light creamy/chantilly ground notes on the end.
Mango revolute : the star on the mix, like i said, the most realistic mango nectar IMO.
But this flavor isnt perfect, it lacks sugar, and it is a bit dry.
CAP sweet mango : it’s here to bring sweet and ripe notes.
Flv mango : add the creamy/fluffy stuff the revolute mango needs
TPA meringue : add light creamy / milk notes
TPA vanilla swirl : brings light chantilly notes on the top
CAN be SAV but better after 2 days.
This mix doesnt need sugar IMO but feel free to add you favorite sweetner
