All of Fear's original notes for Cardinal are below. It's quite frankly one of the best dessert tobaccos around.
Thinking on what a Hobbit would try to get out of a tobacco strain was an amusing exercise. With crispy bacon off the market my options were limited.
So I went with what I know best, besides yogurts, custards. I cut my shake and vape custard stone down so that I wasn't interfering with the innate creaminess of the HHRY4. What I wanted was a creamy custard backnote, which I think I achieved.
The butterscotch is there to push the caramel in the recipe forward a bit more.
It retains the smooth richness of Cardinal while adding a unique twist.
Fear's Original Notes:
I can keep revising recipes for months if not years as I get bored with a really good profile and do something different with it. Gonna release this one before I change it again. :) I have three favorite "RY4" concentrates. The original from Hangsen holds a special place in my heart, RY4 Double from TFA does as well but it tends to be on the harsh side for me. Lastly, Holy Grail RY4 from DIYFS is near to perfect for me but suffers from what all RY4s do, (in my opinion)... NOT ENOUGH TOBACCO
A simple, delectable desert tobacco.
Holy Grail RY4, one of my absolute favorite RY4s, heavy on the warm creamy caramel, heavy on the vanilla. used a bit heavy here to get the "warm creamy caramel" to the front.
FLV Red Burley, I absolutely love this concentrate. It is one of the handful of tobacco concentrates that are not NETs that I feel truly compares to a single varietal test to the actual tobacco it is named after. This is an odd concentrate, it comes in STRONG and true as a shake and vape, then dies off over a week, coming back in week two of the steep, less strong but way more nuance.
FLV Kentucky Blend, this is a really good analog cigarette concentrate, used a bit low here for a very slight smoky ash without having to use a TA. This can be left out completely but I feel it adds a nice note.
The pairing of the two FLV tobaccos here is to amplify and authenticate the little bit of tobacco that Holy Grail has. If I am going to long steep a bottle of this >3 weeks I bump the FLV Tobaccos up to double what they are here. Not that they fade away but at double what they are they maintain a stronger presence outside of the 3 week steep.
This is a really good shake and vape (by my definition, at least let it sit over night after vigorous shaking), it does change significantly over the next 14 days hitting it's peak of meld and nuance at that point. If you are a desert tobacco lover give this one a shot in a larger mix to experience the change in profile and nuance. I listed 60 vg as ideal as I feel tobaccos benefit from a bit higher PG, but it is also really good at my max VG percentage of 70. This is really good in any flavor atty/tank, different coil types and airflow will accentuate different aspects of the profile immensely.
Sweeten to taste, I can't imagine this needing more than half a percent of any sweetener though.
Juicy Peach and White Peach combine to make an absolutely lovely layered peach. Throat hit will be there for at least 7 days, so keep that in mind when selection your peaches for mixing.
INW Cherries is about as good as it gets for cherry imo. Versatile enough for playing the role of most cherry flavors you can imagine without heading to cough syrup town.
Brown sugar and vanilla bourbon cream give you a light burnt effect to your fruit (Thank you for the lesson CokeCan!) and adds a touch of light creaminess.
FLV Apricot is just lovely, it has apricot with hits of brighter berries and citrus, at .5 we get hits of all of this while pushing our peach and cherry up to the front of the recipe at the same time.
FLV Boysenberry adds some dark berry richness and syrup notes to the vape.
Italian cream is here to add a sour'ish cream cheesey'ness note to contrast the sweetness and add some balance to the recipe.
Working on a Jaffa Cake based on the description from my live stream on 2/3/18.

Never had the real deal so I have no idea how close we got.
I picture Tom Brady sitting in the locker room after that last failed Hail Mary staring forlornly at the half deflated footballs around him, tears running down his cheeks. The only thing that could possibly end this pain is something salty and creamy in his mouth... He looks over at an equally forlorn Gronk. Their eyes meet. They both know as only two partners who have been together for what seems like a lifetime can know what the other needs. A butterscotch pudding with salted caramel sauce and oreo cookie bits!
Since the Eagles won the Super Bowl I'm making a run at a Philly favorite according to the interwebs, but no one in that actually lives in Philadelphia has apparently ever heard of, Budino. I was aiming for a rich butterscotch custard/Pudding, caramel sauce, and cookie bits, which I for the most part achieved. The cookie bits comes across as more of a chocolate note in the back of the vape, but otherwise, even off the shake this turned out REALLY well!
Most of the recipe is pretty straight forward.
I love INW Custard because you get a darned good custard with almost no steep.
FLV Vanilla Pudding is a delightful flavor, tastes like cheap snack-pak vanilla jello right away, but develops a surprising amount of depth as it steeps.
RF Cookies and cream pretty much has the chocolate cookie portion of an oreo nailed minus a little texture.
Butterscotch and Salted Caramel need to be together as much as Gronk and ol'TB. They compliment each other so well it's just meant to be.
The Soho and French Vanilla Ice Cream are here for enhancing the richness and mouth feel of the vape. The FVIC has a great sweet butter note that compliments the custard and pudding.
Whipped Cream is there for flavor, sweetness, blending, and a bit of mouth feel.
A Raspberry 7-Up Float!
The WF Lemon Lime Soda is an excellent approximation of 7-up.
LB Ice Cream is used at a slightly lighter than normal percent here to keep the butter note to a minimum.
FLV Cream provides the difference in cream, blends all of the ingredients, and adds a creamy mouth feel to the vape.
Inw Raspberry is a lovely fresh raspberry flavor that gets a boost from the Lemon and Lime.
