Sun cured, slightly sweet and spiced pipe tobacco. I’ve been working on a “for Pipe” series of recipes for a couple of months, and since this one has become my ADV, I figured it’d be worth a release.

When I was working on this one, I sniffed a little bag of Turkish blending tobacco more times than anyone should. At one point I even put some in my mouth to see if any ideas popped in my head. So yeah, I was kind of losing my mind. There is this spice note in the Turkish that I just couldn’t figure out. FLV Turkish has a bit of spice to it, but I really don’t care for that one. Then I finally got around to buying FLV Oriental, and around the same time I got HS Elder Captain. Magic happened.

On its own, Elder Captain has a bit of a clove vibe, but when it’s put lower down in a mix it gives that hard to describe spice note. With FLV Oriental it’s perfect.

Black for Pipe there doing it’s thang. Smoky and beautiful. Can’t have a “for Pipe” without a for Pipe flavor.

INW Arabic is a bit of a funky, musty flavor. Not nearly as funky as FLV Arabian, but it’s still a bit odd. When I was sniffing my bag I was getting a little bit of that mustiness, so I went with the less offensive Arabian.

Fortuna Strike is there for a hint of that raisin note that tobacco has. I have a feeling that maybe FLV Raisin Rum would be a suitable replacement, but that has not been confirmed for this recipe.

Anyways, it’s good. Some Latakia, Virginia Perique, and Burley coming out soon too. Get some FA Black Pepper in your stash if those sound interesting to you.
