Paw paw is an amazingly fun and exotic fruit that is cultivated down the east coast sea board from OH to my home state RI. Luckily for me a friend of mine at work grows these amazingly creamy fruits and gave me one to try as it was perfectly ripe this past fall (with the intention of making this recipe). So after trying said fruit I got to work on making an authentic paw paw pudding. I feel I got pretty lucky with this one, after a 2 week steep I really hit the nail on the head.
Props to @Wolfwheeler for the pudding base
Flv Mango - Paw Paw is most similar to a creamy mango so this extra .5% boost just helps push it through the pudding base a little bit more
Paw Paw Pie (Dismal Pie)
Paw Paws are a strange sort of fruit called a custard apple. It works wonderfully as a non-descript soft tropical flavor. It also makes great desserts (although I've seen it paired with fish before). It's creamy with a raw/ earthy sweet flavor. This is not a pastry sort of pie but more like a fruity custard pie in a graham cracker crust that was hand pressed with butter and sugar into the pan.
It's the wrong time of year for this fruit that naturally grows in the American Applachia as it's far too DISMAL outside ;).
VT Paw paw is nearly spot on for a real paw paw but far too soft so in order to bring it forward and make it a richer flavor over the creamy bit of the pie I brought in it's incomplete cousins to bolster it: Flv mango and wf cherimoya. The mango is sweet and bright whereas the cherimoya brings the rind and edge of the fruit with a slight bit of pineapple sweetness. To keep the smooth creamy flavor/texture a touch of flv vanilla pudding was used.
The crust is mostly flv graham cracker for the crust with a tiny bit of TPA CC (graham crust) that ties it in with the paw paw rather than sitting completely separate from the rest of the pie.
Tropical Pineapple and Paw Paw with creamy yoghurt and a touch of lime.
Made for Mixin’ Vixens- I know the photo shows banana- but I’m really not a fan of banana. Paw paw is said to share similarities so I chose to use that instead.
MB Pineapple Lassi is an amazing yoghurt with a fairly good pineapple but it needed some help, so I used the VT and INW.
The VT Paw Paw is quite high at 3.75%. But I needed to push it that high to get it to come through over everything else.
VT Yoghurt Drink adds to the yoghurt as well as having a citrus note which brightens the fruit. It also sweetens the mix.
CAP Creamy Yogurt gives the yoghurt more creaminess and yoghurty tang.
Can definitely SNV- maybe give it a few hours minimum though. Improves with a few days steep.
I love coconut sticky rice and really wanted to see how close I could come to it . On the inhale you get the lemon/lime and some of the paw paw notes that transitions to the coconut and rice.
The rice is a mix of sweet rice which is a sweet slightly creamy note and the rice base which helps to support with some texture and rice aroma
I love sweet coconut by flv it adds body and creaminess to the mix but I wanted that coconut to really pop so FA coconut works or even a little TPA coconut candy could help if you want more sweetness.
paw paw is a great fruit it has mango and cantaloupe notes with a creamy almost banana body
the lemongrass and lime add some brightness and top notes that works in this mix . lemongrass is a pretty potent and has a light floral note to it that can be noticed in back end but works in this mix for me
The vanilla cream just help fill in the body and blend this mix and adds a brighter vanilla note
I wanted more sweetness in this, so I added sweetness - but sweeten to your taste
