Just a moment. Five measures of Vanilla Custard, one and half measures of French Vanilla II, three measures of Lemon Lime. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?
Shaken not stirred is a refreshing custard with lime. That’s not the in the middle of your face custard but one with the right finesse as well as a good presence.
For the custard I wanted a bright not eggy but dense custard base. CAP Vanilla Custard and TPA French Vanilla II form this base which is hold together nicely with the Ethyl Maltol. The hint of the Ethyl Vanillin gives it just the extra edge to provide some additional subtlety.
The CAP Lemon Lime brings the Lime and extra sweetness to the mix. At 3% it could not fully stand the custard, so it needed a little help from CAP Super Sweet instead of bringing the percentage up. Additional Key Lime did not help holding the French Vanilla II under control which did initially not work to well together with the Lemon Lime. After many variations I tried TPA Key Lime Pie and it helped to close the gap from to the Lemon Lime and it hold the French Vanilla in place where it should stay. Also here a little goes a long way.
I am a long steeper when it comes to my mixes and personally do double the steeping time I recommend, so sometimes you have to give the mix some extra time since this is not an exact science.
Normally,i only buy some snv's from time to time,created by mixers i respect, only to support the diy community.This project was a request from a friend and i just couldn't refuse.Butterscotch reserve by Glas vapor,is a typical RY4 mix,nothing really innovative,it was created for people that enjoy RY4 mixes.The only difference is that they added a honey and alcohol layer,which makes it a little difficult to identify the exact vanilla and caramel flavours.I believe that honey flavour is tobacco based so i went with tpa's Black Honey.The bourbon accent is not really heavy,it is hidden in the background,so i preffered Aged bourbon cream by RF,for the alcohol accent and also for the nice blend it does with other creams.French vanilla is softer and milder than custards and it blends well with tobaccos.RY4double was the obvious flavour for the main tobacco.My first attempt was with tpa's caramel original,but i feel that fw's butterscotch suits much better
Supersweet is optional,i vape it without it,but the original uses it,so mix according to your taste
We love our iced coffee here "downunder" but it's sweet and unique compared to most others I've had from other places in the world. I have based this recipe on the leading commercial and loved iced coffee here in Australia called "Ice Break". After two years of trying, I'm happy to say I have found a way to to get the special unique note of sweetness that has been the hardest part of this recipe to nail down.
Never did I think a TFA Coffee would make up the missing piece of the puzzle here. After trying TFA Coffee Extra Clear quite a while ago I swore I wouldn't use a TPA coffee flavoring again. However I found a sweet coffee(TPA Coffee Kona) that when used in context with other solid flavors and used low at no more than 1% it is lovely. Using the French Vanilla 2 paired well to assist with the unique kind of sweet & almost malty vanilla note that has made this recipe such a challenge for me. Along with the mouthfeel, sweetness and balance all the other concentrates brought to this profile, each one layers and assist to achieve the notes that makes up my favorite everyday iced coffee and come to life. I encourage you as you mix this to single flavor test these concentrates and note what each does and I have no doubt you will learn more by this recipe in how I have gone about layering it all in. Hence why we don't see many "Coffee Base Recipes", it's difficult. This recipe would be my personal best and most patient recipe I have brought together and I hope you enjoy this as much as I have developing it.
